Color of a Diamond
How is the color of a diamond defined?
Color refers to the hue of the diamond. Although white or colorless stones are traditionally used for engagement rings, diamonds come in a wide range of colors.
How is diamond hue assessed?
Engagement ring diamonds are graded from D to Z, with D being the most popular colorless diamond. The hue of D, E, and F colored diamonds is difficult to differentiate to the untrained eye, but the presence of color becomes more obvious as you move up the alphabet. Z-graded diamonds have a pale yellow or brown color, and anything outside of this range is considered a fancy colored diamond.
